Random kind person shows struggling mom that there is kindness in the world, gives her the courage to leave an unhealthy situation: ‘[I] left feeling relieved as I took in a breath of fresh air outside.’

It's a hard world out there right now, so it's important to show kindness when you can. Many people are struggling, especially families. You think it's expensive to buy yourself groceries? Try buying groceries for a family of four or more very hungry growing people! It's expensive. This mother was not only struggling to pay for her and her family's groceries, she also found herself in an unhealthy relationship with her husband. She didn't know what to do and she felt trapped. She it came to paying for her $52 grocery haul, she burst into tears because she could not afford it. As she struggled through tears to ask if she could put something back, the kind man behind her in line stepped in. He paid for her groceries with no expectations from her. She thanked him and scurried away. 

 

It was in the moment when she got to breathe fresh air outside and the act of kindness she just received finally registered in her mind and soul, she decided she could do better. For herself, for her kids, and for anyone else who might need to experience kindness in the future. Just goes to show what a small act of kindness can really do for someone in need.

  • When you are parenting, it is hard to look outside of the family situation. This mama was simply thinking about how she was going to afford, house, and care for her babies. The man she was with at the time convinced her that he was the only thing that could provide those securities for her and her babies and that that was love. But when she experience kindness from a stranger, it was like a slap to the face! She could finally see what she really needed and what this “partner” of her's could never giver her and that was generosity and kindness.
